Greensboro, NC: On Wednesday night, UNCG’s men’s soccer team played a non-conference game at home against the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) Seahawks. With a home field advantage, the Spartans were looking for an opportunity to manufacture some needed momentum after coming off a 3-2 loss at Wofford on Oct. 19, which broke the Spartans’ nine-game win streak.

Throughout the first half, UNCG pressured UNCW’s side of the field, taking numerous looks at goal. These hard-fought efforts eventually paid off in the 30th minute as UNCG’s forward, Arnaud Tattevin, scored an impressive goal with crucial assists from Enzo Dovlo and Daniel Longo.

As the match continued, UNCG’s Keanan Bader added to the Spartan lead with an assist from Jack Birch in the 38th minute. The two-goal lead hardly lasted, though: the Seahawks were able to half UNCG’s lead with an acrobatic goal by Christian Acevedo just one minute later. The teams went into the break with the Spartans holding onto a narrow 2-1 lead.

In the 68th minute, Arnaud Tattevin secured his sixth goal of the season. UNCW did not have many clear chances in the second half, and they were only able to generate two shots on target, neither of which making their mark. UNCG was able to finish the match with a 3-1 win.

This was the Spartans’ final non-conference game of the season and, since then, they were able to secure a 1-0 away win against VMI! UNCG will play their final game of the regular season on Nov. 2 at home against ETSU.
