UNCG Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball both recorded wins on Nov. 16 in the Fleming Gym.

The Men’s team got the day started against North Carolina Wesleyan. It did not take long for the Spartans to build up a lead against Wesleyan, and once they did, they never looked back. By the end of the first half, UNCG had a seemingly unsurmountable lead of 49-24.

The second period was more of the same for our Spartans as they routinely doubled their lead to make the final score 99-54! It was a day to forget for Wesleyan as they could not handle the speed of our UNCG Spartans. As a team, UNCG had 20 points off turnovers and 19 fast break points. They were also able to amass 36 field goals, with 12 of those being three-pointers. Our Spartans didn’t leave anything up for grabs at the other end of the court, as they were able to combine to have 40 defensive rebounds.

UNCG took some time to find their footing in this game, going behind 22-12 in the first quarter. Our Spartans were able to persevere and closed the gap to four points by halftime. At the end of the third quarter, UNCG was leading App State 49-40 and did not fall back after this point.

Our UNCG Women’s Basketball had three players score double-digit points. These players were: Jaila Lee (11), Jayde Gamble (16), and Nya Smith with an impressive 21 points! Khalis Cain was able to accumulate 10 rebounds in this game, four of those being offensive. As a team, UNCG was able to score 23 points off turnovers and had nine fast break points as well.
