UNCG Women’s Soccer had an unbeaten weekend in Southern Conference play after securing a 1-0 win over the Furman Paladins at home and a scoreless draw against Wofford away from home. The results from the weekend improved the Spartans’ SoCon record to 2-1-2 and put them up to eight points in the SoCon standings. Meanwhile, men’s soccer was ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA Division I Soccer by United Soccer Coaches. Despite that ranking, UNCG Men’s Soccer faced defeat against ETSU in its conference opener.

UNCG Women’s Soccer Unbeaten at the Weekend

The Spartans’ first matchup of the weekend was in Greensboro, against the Furman Paladins on October 2nd. UNCG struck first early in the match through Ava Kiss and held onto the lead throughout the game. It is the midfielder’s second goal of the 2025 season which pushed UNCG to another three points in the Southern Conference standings.

The second opponent that UNCG Women’s Soccer faced this weekend was the Wofford Terriers. Wofford was desperate to get off the mark in conference play, going into the match winless with a 0-3-1 record. The Terriers’ first win would need to wait as UNCG held them to a 0-0 draw at Wofford. The result gives the Spartans a point in the Southern Conference standings, moving UNCG to sixth place – tied on eight points with Chattanooga (fourth) and Furman (fifth).

UNCG Women’s Soccer will be back in action on October 11th against Mercer in Georgia.

UNCG Men’s Soccer Top 10 in the Nation

UNCG Men’s Soccer was ranked tenth in the nation by United Soccer Coaches last week – the highest ranking that the Spartans have had in the 2025 season. On the back of that ranking, UNCG would kick off Southern Conference play against ETSU on October 4. The Spartans lost the matchup against their SoCon foes 2-1, dropping a three-game unbeaten run.

Pablo Torre got on the scoresheet for UNCG in the SoCon match, making it his second goal of the 2025 season. The result puts UNCG’s overall record at 6-2-2 and 0-1-0 in the Southern Conference. The Spartans will have another chance to earn their first win in SoCon against VMI on October 11th. Before that, UNCG faces local rivals and nationally ranked High Point University (No. 7) on October 8th here in Greensboro.
