The assistant dean for Administrative Services at UNC-Greensboro’s University Libraries, Michael Crumpton, was elected vice president and president-elect of the North Carolina Library Association this past week, according to UNCG Campus Weekly.

Crumpton explained the importance of libraries to UNCG Campus Weekly, saying, “The libraries of North Carolina are also instrumental in the development and economic well-being of our state, and the work that is done in each and every library is significant to our society’s prosperity.”

Crumpton said he looks to promoting diversity and inclusion as well as new techniques and emerging trends in the industry.

Crumpton was the director of Library Services at Wake Technical Community College and served as the Manager of Access and Information Services at the Public Library of Cincinnati in Hamilton County, Ohio. He also received his master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Florida.

UNCG recently lost its dean of University Libraries to retirement and will now have two posts to fill in a department that has a broad reach on campus, as the library is central to student life as a resource.
