On Sept. 16, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on three counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, and fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs was denied bail and will remain in federal custody. Combs pled not guilty. According to the indictments, Combs “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”

These illegal acts were commonly referred to as “Freak Offs” by celebs and “huge party ragers” by the media which Combs would host at his Manhattan and Los Angeles estates. These “Freak Offs” were elaborate sex performances that Combs arranged and participated in, often filming the parties as a means of collateral and blackmail for the victims and guests of his parties.

In March of this year, law enforcement searched Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles. Law enforcement seized over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, three AR-15s with defaced serial numbers, and a drum magazine meant for intimidating victims. It has also been reported that these parties could span days, and victims were often given IV fluids after the incidents.

Combs carried out these acts under the guise of his successful business dealings and organizations—such as Bad Boy Entertainment, Combs Enterprise, and Combs Global—with many of his work associates instructed in dealing with said illegal acts and cleaning up on Combs’s behalf.

These parties have been known since the late 1990s. In 1999, Combs was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight and was asked about his wild parties. The young Combs responded by stating, “Whenever you bring up a different element into people’s environment, things that broaden people’s horizons, they get intimidated.” Combs foreshadows his indictments, saying that those people want to “arrest him because they are having a good time.”

This is not the first time Combs has faced allegations of violence and abuse. Combs went under fire in March of 2016 after he was caught on video kicking and dragging his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, inside of a Los Angeles hotel. The only apology Combs has given at this time is regarding the footage, stating that he regretted his actions and “took full responsibility for what happened in the video.”

Many other celebrities have also discussed Combs’ parties, though many stories are kept secret. For example, in 2019, Ashton Kutcher was asked about his relationship with Combs while being interviewed for the popular YouTube interview show Hot Ones. Kutcher struggled to reveal any information about his partying with Combs and instead retold the story of how they became “fast friends.”

Katt Williams, actor and comedian, has spoken out regarding Combs’ arrest. In January of 2024, Williams was a guest on Shannon Sharpe’s show Club Shay Shay, in which he predicted Combs’ arrest later this year. In the interview, Williams describes turning down $50 million four times to protect his integrity. Williams states, “P Diddy wants to party, and you have got to tell him no.” After the arrest, Williams posted a video on his social media with the caption, “Diddy about to snitch on everybody.”

In response to Combs’ arrest, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, denied the accusation about his client, stating that Combs has “nothing to hide.” Agnifilo also remarked on the amount of baby oil discovered at Combs’ residences, stating that the amount of 1,000 should be questioned and that Costco is to blame for the absurd amount. Agnifilo defended Combs by saying that he “buys in bulk.”

With more information expected to come out, it is devastating to know of the actions Combs took on the victims, and the world will keep a close eye on Diddy and his trial that will follow.
